The Nambahlicious Duet, Bahira and
Shiva were all happy to be a part of Maia's Student Night at the
Fairbrae Swim Clubhouse in Sunnyvale, California. Maia, her students,
and other wonderful helpers worked to transform the Clubhouse into a
Moroccan Beit (house) and invited their freinds and family to dine and
watch them perform.

Lights were strung, lanterns lit on the tables with jewels and a dancer's tent was set up

Bahira of Marrakesh Express catered the sumptuous Moroccan Feast assisted by Shiva,
her Minion of One Thousand Arms.

Sangria, mint tea, Ame and Pellegrino were served at the Bar
as early dancers and guests began to arrive.

Wendy, Mandella & Fara'Asha

Donna, Zora (Maia's costumer), Maia and Alcina (Maia's teacher).
Zora's husband, Bob, with family and friends.
All were greeted and seated and invited to dine,
getting the Night at the Casbah underway.

Maia opened the show with thanks to all
and proud words of praise for her students.
Guests moved their chairs in for the best viewing of
the performers and the dancing began.
Bahira's husband, Dave, was videographer for the evening.

The Nambahlicious Duet of Mandella and Fara'Asha gave a
sterling rendition of two classic Nambah dance numbers
in new Flamenco-Gypsy costumes

Here they are In Slink.......

.....and In Sync

.....Nambahlicious!

Rakset Wadi al Shems, Maia's student troupe, performed a wonderful
classic Egyptian style Raks Sharki dance, filling the room with
excitement and smiles.

Rakset Wadi al Shems translates from Arabic to
Dancers of the Valley of the Sun....Sunnyvale....get it?!"

Two more soloists followed a brief intermission:

Sevanti also takes private lessons from Bahira.

Here is Zora, wet from the ocean
in her own creation entitled,
"Under The Influence of Aphrodite, Goddess of the Sea"
Despite a painful pulled neck muscle,
Maia gave her audience a wonderful finishing performance of the evening.
Her costume "Starry Night" was designed and
created by Zora (skirt and vest)
and Bahira (bedlah and jewelry).

At the end of her performance Maia asked her teacher, Alcina,
to join her in dancing. Alcina showered Maia with money as she
followed her dancing around the room.
An embrace at the end completed the cycle of
"Teacher to Student" to "Teacher with Students of her own."

With that the floor was open to everyone and all got up to join in the dance.

Troupe Nambah says a big Thank You to Maia and her students
for letting them be a part of this Special Evening.

Bahira, too exhausted (and unpresentable) behind the scenes
in the kitchen to appear before the camera,
says a BIG thank you to Shiva for all her help!
