"Dancing Toward the Northern Lights"
Maia's students, friends, and family
turned out to a Farewell Hafla at Hattie Porter Hall
in San Jose, organized by Zora
to honor and show their love and support of Maia for her
steadfast dedication and joyful teaching of the art of belly dance.
Maia and her family are leaving the Bay Area this month and heading
north to Oregon to settle in Lake Oswega.
Many of Maia's dear friends, students and her teacher, Alcina,
performed especially for her this evening.

"And now you are in for a real treat. It’s time for The Nambahlicious Duet of
Mandella and Fara’Asha. Today they are pleased to
perform a new Nambah Choreography Classic –
giving a whole new definition to “Double” veil.
We hope you enjoy this new original dance interpretation."

The Nambahlicious ladies were among many who performed in honor of
Maia at her Farewell Hafla.

Zora's students danced next demonstrating the joy of movement in
open dancing and a brief intermission followed allowing the guests to
partake of more of Pasand's delicious (and spicy)
catered Indian dishes.

Maia's student troupe Rakset Wadi Al Shems opened up the second
half of the evenings performance and were followed by Bahira.

Then Maia and her Daughter, Bahija, danced together briefly before
bringing the third generation of dancers to her feet as well.
